Religion in Japan

This time I am going to talk a little bit about the religions of Japan. Now, this will mostly be about their native religion, Shinto, but I will also quickly cover up their other religions.

First, according to surveys from year 2006, these numbers when it comes to religion came up: 51.8% Shinto and Atheists, 34.9% Buddhism, 4% Shinto organizations and others, 2.3% Christianity, and 7% No answer.

So, that one covered, I will talk a bit about Shinto. "Shinto is the traditional religion of Japan that focuses on ritual practices to be carried out diligently to establish a connection between present-day Japan and its ancient past", is a pretty nice summary from Wiki. More information, Shinto is as old as the Japanese culture. Shinto practices were first recorded and codified in the historical records of the Kojiki (the oldest extant chronicle in Japan) and Nihon Shoki (the second-oldest book of classical Japanese history) in the 8th century. The religion has other names, such as kami-no-michi, but 'Shinto' means 'Way of the Gods'. As much as nearly 80% of the population in Japan participates in Shinto practices or rituals, but only a small percentage of these identify themselves as "Shintoists" in surveys.

80's J-Pop: Miki Matsubara

Bongcheon Dong Ghost

Bongcheon-Dong Ghost is a short, South Korean horror webtoon (a type of digital comic) created by Horang August 23rd 2011. In July 2011, artist Horang published the short webtoon " Ok-su Station Ghost " on Naver Webtoon (a webtoon portal). This webtoon included 3D-like effects, including in a scene in which a ghost´s hand appears to jump out of the screen as if to grab the viewer. Horang followed this webcomic up with "Bongcheon-Dong Ghost" later that month. An English fan translation and video dub were created in August, as the webcomic quickly went viral internationally. Corpse Party & Sachiko Shinozaki

Before starting with the Character of the Week, I would like to give background because I absolutely LOVE Corpse Party. It is so unique and, when I discovered it, unlike anything I had seen before!
