How to say "Happy New Year" in Chinese, Korean & Japanese

Well, it is time to say goodbye to 2020 and invite 2021 to the world!  I think we all agree that 2020 has not been a very good year, so let's pray and hope that 2021 will be better. During the epidemic that has been going on have we all been having to face hardships and isolation, but like said, let's believe that next year will be improved and more open! So, now that it is time to close this chapter, let's greet 2021 by learning how to say "Happy New Year" in Chinese, Korean and Japanese! 1) In Chinese , "Happy New Year!" is " Xīnnián kuàilè ! ". The new year's festival in China is not so important though because the spring festival is coming. Chinese New Year is a festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. The festival is usually referred to as the Spring Festival in modern China. The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between January 21st and February 20

Sword Art Online's Asuna Yuuki

"In the year 2022, virtual reality has progressed by leaps and bounds, and a massive online role-playing game called Sword Art Online (SAO) is launched. With the aid of "NerveGear" technology, players can control their avatars within the game using nothing but their own thoughts. Kazuto Kirigaya, nicknamed "Kirito", is among the lucky few enthusiasts who get their hands on the first shipment of the game. He logs in to find himself, with ten-thousand others, in the scenic and elaborate world of Aincrad, one full of fantastic medieval weapons and gruesome monsters. However, in a cruel turn of events, the players soon realize they cannot log out; the game's creator has trapped them in his new world until they complete all one hundred levels of the game. In order to escape Aincrad, Kirito will now have to interact and cooperate with his fellow players. Some are allies, while others are foes, like Asuna Yuuki, who commands the leading group attempti

A Traditional Korean Wedding

Traditional Korean weddings are based on and centered on the Confucian values. Every aspect of the wedding, from the arrangements to the ceremony and after the celebration, had important and detailed steps to accompany them. In traditional Korean culture (like many traditional cultures), the marriage between a man and a woman was decided by the bride and groom's elders. As in Confucian values, the family and their customs are placed above all else. Marriage is considered to be the most important part of one's life. This is not only a union between two individuals, but two families. In addition, marriage was a way (especially in elite families) to develop and/or maintain a social status. For these reasons, a significant amount of time was spoent in the preparations before we finally performed the actual wedding ritual. It goes in these three steps: The first step is called Eui Hon , or "matchmaking", and that is when both the bride and groom's families discuss the

Who's That Pokémon?: Abomasnow

I have had a little idea a long time for the blog now, for all the Pokémon lovers, and it is called "Who's That Pokémon?". This will become a category, and on this category, you can read and learn about the over 700 Pokémons that exists in their universe! I myself love Pokémon so I thought it could be fun to write about it every week, just like my category "Character of the Week" (where I write about anime/manga characters). I hope this turns out like I've imagined! Bear in mind though that these posts will not be as long as my usual posts, as I will only display information about the Pokémon. First up, the Pokémon Abomasnow ! Abomasnow is a Frost Tree Pokémon, an Ice- and Grasstype Pokémon who suits best in the snowy mountains, which is also where you can find the Pokémon in the Kalos region. You can also find it in Sinnoh, Unova, Galar and other regions, but it is kind of rare to be able to find it when you have to approach its surroundings and nests at a

At age 23, Yuuri's window for success in skating is closing rapidly, and his love of pork cutlets and aptitude for gaining weight are not helping either. However, Yuuri finds himself in the spotlight when a video of him performing a routine previously executed by five-time world champion, Victor Nikiforov, suddenly goes viral. In fact, Victor himself abruptly appears at Yuuri's house and offers to be his mentor. As one of his biggest fans, Yuuri eagerly accepts, kicking off his journey to make it back onto the world stage. A Geisha

Geisha (芸 者), or Geigi (芸 妓), are traditional Japanese entertainers. They are educated in various Japanese art forms, such as music, dance and poetry. The vast majority of today's geishas are women. A common misconception in the Western world is that they are prostitutes, but that is not true. The term "geisha" is derived from the two words 芸 (gei) meaning "art" and 者 (sha) meaning "person doing" or "being employed within". The direct translation would thus be "person who makes art", but today the translation "artist" also works. Geishas are well respected and it is complicated to become a geisha. Another term used for geishas is Geiko ( 芸子), which first began to be used in Kyoto. The geisha tradition in Kyoto is still very strong, and even today the geishas in Kyoto are called Geikos. To become a profesisonal geisha (geiko) in Kyoto, a five-year training is required. many of the girls who wants to become a geiko are in

Neko Atsume: An Addictive Cat Game

Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector is a Japanese iOS/Android game made and developed by Hit-Point Co.,Ltd. It is an adorable game about collecting cats. It may sound and look simple but there's something so addictive about it at the same time! And even better; it does not require Wi-Fi to play. A cute cat-collecting game. You play the game by purchasing items like food, toys & furniture for the cats to eat and play with. After a while, different cats will start showing up, which you can take photos of, change their name or just see their general information. As a 'thank you', the cats give you Silver Fishes/Gold Fishes, the currency in the game, and maybe even a Memento. You cannot interact further with the cats than that but it is still fun to watch them come and go from time to time. There are many, many different types of kitty cats to see and "collect" into your Cat Album. Some are common, some are rare. To get all cats, it really depends on what

Darling In The FranXX: 02

Today's "Character of the Week", I decided to include one of the main characters from the anime Darling In The FranXX, a short anime I really fancy. I will be talking about none other than Zero Two, or 002, the main heroine and the deuteragonist. Darling in the FranXX is a short (It has 1 season containing 24 episodes) Sci-Fi, Mecha, Action & Romance anime that premiered in winter 2018, airing from January 13th to July 7th 2018. Very well, onto the description: "In the distant future, humanity has been driven to near-extinction by giant beasts known as Klaxosaurs, forcing the surviving humans to take refuge in massive fortress cities called Plantations. Children raised here are trained to pilot giant mechas known as FranXX—the only weapons known to be effective against the Klaxosaurs - in boy-girl pairs. Bred for the sole purpose of piloting these machines, these children know nothing of the outside world and are only able to prove their existence by

Japanese Rock group ONE OK ROCK

ONE OK ROCK   (in Japanese,   ワンオクロック ) is basically a Japanese band that started in 2005, and are still active today, releasing awesome music for the fans. Their genre is mostly Rock, but also pop punk, emo & post-hardcore. ONE OK ROCK´s basic influences are Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, The Used and others similar to that style. To give a bit of a history lesson: ONE OK ROCK first became a group in Tokyo, Japan, all the way back to 2005, because of the then high school students  Toru Yamashita  and  Ryota Kohama . Though, before ONE OK ROCK, Toru and Ryota were both in a hip-hop dance group called  Heads . They left Heads to start their own thing, with the help of their senior and classmate  Alex Onizawa  and  Yu . Both Alex and Yu left though with time (Yu left the band to pursue an acting career, but I do not know exactly why Alex left), and that is when  Takahiro Moriuchi  joined, the singer of the group. Around one month before their major debut, drummer  Tomoya Kanki  joined ON

Sapporo Snow Festival

The Sapporo Snow Festival , or Sapporo Yuki Matsuri , is a Japanese festival that is held each year in Sapporo (hence the name), Japan´s fifth largest city which is up north in Hokkaido. It is one of Japan´s most popular, largest winter events and attracts millions of people & tourists every year. Odori Park, Susukino and Tsudome are the three main sites of the festival. It is mainly known for its magnificant snow and ice sculpures that can be several meters high and wide. The subject of the statues varies quite alot, from famous people to buildings to events. Every year though, around 400 statues are created, which is almost insane. This amazing snow festival has been active and around since 1950. It all started as a one-day event, when some high school students were making snow-and-ice sculptures in Odori Park. There were other snow festivals before the Sapporo Snow Festival, however, all of them were suspended during World War II.

Kimi No Na Wa: Taki & Mitsuha

Recently, I talked about and gave a review on the successful and wonderful movie Kimi No Na Wa ( Your Name ). I simply felt like talking a bit more about it, because the characters are so enjoyable! I will not be able to talk THAT much about them though, since that will be too long of a blogpost. I won't give my opinion either like I usually do because I have already done it in the review (if you're curious of my thoughts, check out the review!). Today, Character of The Week is the main characters in the story; Taki and Mitsuha . I suppose I will start with Taki and then Mitsuha. Who is your favourite out of the two of them? Taki Tachibana is the male protagonist in the movie. Appearance-wise , Taki is a young man with an average build and height who is noted for being handsome. He has spiky, nape-length brown hair with bangs covering his forehead and dark blue eyes. At times, he is seen wearing band-aids because of his impulsive personality. Personality-wise , Taki

Popular and Beautiful Japanese Castles

As we all know, Japan is filled with a gigantic, beautiful and fascinating history. This history left the country with many gorgeous monuments, tombs and castles. Therefore, I wanted to quickly go over some popular Japanese castles, because I just find it so interesting, and I hope you do as well! 1) Hiroshima Castle. Hiroshima Castle was established back in year 1589 by Mori Terumoto at the delta of the Otagawa River and recieved the name of "Gokamura" (5 villages). When the feudal system fell, the castle was used by the military as Imperial General Headquarters during the Sino Japanese war. On August 6th 1945 the castle was completely destroyed by the Atomic Bomb blast. The present tower was reconstructed in 1958 and houses a museum today in Hiroshima. 2) Kakegawa Castle. Since its construction in the 15th century, Kakegawa Castle was involved in many battles and was under control of several important warlords such as Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawas Ieyas

Top 6 Famous Japanese Food

There are thousands of thousands of different foods in Japan to choose, from the popular sushi to maybe some dish you have never heard of before. In this post, I will quickly go over some of the Top 6 most famous Japanese food out there!   1) Oden. Essentially just a variety of foods served in a light, soy-flavoured broth, oden is a hugely popular winter dish in Japan, and usually appears around September or October depending on the region. Warm, filling and tasty, there are all kinds of oden experiences to be had, with everything from typical convenience store fare to far more sophisticated takes on this winter warmer available from dedicated vendors. 2) Tempura. Tempura, probably of Latin tempora ('temporary'), is in the Japanese cuisine food that has been paned and then fried in oil. It is often about mushrooms, fish, shrimp, octopus, sweet potatoes or lotus root dipped in a frying pan consisting of water, flour and egg yolk (sometimes with added bicarbonate
