We all know that on February 14th, it is Valentine's Day, which has already passed. At Valentine's Day, the girls traditionally share their feelings of love with chocolates. But in not only Japan but also South Korea and a handful other countries is there a holiday called "White Day". Ever heard of it? If not, I shall briefly explain what it is!
White Day is a day, a chance, for the boys to show their devotion, and it is usually homemade chocolates as well, but it can also be gifts like jewelry or marshmallows. Why marshmallows in particular is because "White Day" was originally called "Marshmallow Day". Anyways, the holiday occurs exactly one month after Valentine's, at March 14th. In Japan, this day is a very celebrated day. It is much like Valentine's Day except that, as I said, White Day is only celebrated in a couple East Asian countries; Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Fun fact: There is also a game that is called 'White Day' (full name is "White Day: A Labyrinth Named School"). It is an older horror game from 2001, made by Korean game development studio Sonnori. It was, however, remade in 2015 by ROI Games. The game is available on mobile phones, PC and PlayStation 4.
Do you celebrate, or would like to celebrate, White Day?
