Rent-A-Girlfriend, or Kanojo, Okarishimasu in Japanese, is a Japanese romantic comedy series, both in manga- and animeform, written and illustrated by the talented Reiji Miyajima. It has appeared in Kodansha's Weekly Shounen Magazine since July 2017 and has gotten 20 volumes in April 2021.

The story basically follows a 20-year-old university student named Kazuya Kinoshita and his "love life", if you would say so.
Kazuya is a rather awkward but kind and genuine guy, living a normal life and enjoying finally getting his crush, Mami Nanami, to become his girlfriend. After only one month though, Mami suddenly ends the relationship... which totally breaks Kazuya's heart. He tries to process the traumatic breakup and his feelings but nothing works and he drowns in his sorrowful tears and thoughts... until he discovers an app in which you can rent girlfriends. This is an actual system in real life Japan too; one can think of it as a fake dating app, where you go through profiles of girls willing to pretend to be your girlfriend for as long as you pay them for putting their time and effort on you and making you happy. So, Kazuya tries out the app by renting the beautiful Chizuru Mizuhara, making an attempt to soothe the pain that Mami inflicted onto him. But things take a big turn of events and now Kazuya and his rental girlfriend has to pretend that they are a real couple! How is this going to end?

A funny love story that unfortunately does not have an ending yet, but since four different girls are involved in Kazuya's life one way or another, many speculations have blown up. Will Kazuya go back to Mami, turn his attention to Chizuru Mizuhara or find someone entirely new? No one knows yet, so stay tuned and wait patiently for what could be an unexpected ending from Miyajima!
Personally, I enjoyed the whole anime in general. There is character development frokm everyone, the artstyle is wonderful and the Opening, "Centimeter" by the peggies, is the perfect OP for Rent-A-Girlfriend. The only thing I was unhappy about was that the anime ended in a cliffhanger, but that's understandable since the manga is yet to be finished.
Overall rating of the anime Rent-A-Girlfriend: 8,5/10!
