The Way of the Househusband

The Way of the Househusband is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kousuke Oono. Published in the online manga magazine Kurage Bunch since 2018, The Way of the Househusband follows The Immortal Dragon, an ex-Yakuza boss, who retires from all crime to become all househusband. The series is fairly popular and was even made into a live-action TV drama by Nippon TV 2020. You can find both the anime and the TV drama o websites like Netflix.

As briefly said, the story is a Slice of Life that lets us follow Tatsu (meaning "Dragon"), the househusband who... comes across a bit rough around the edges because of his past as a top tier Yakuza who got the reputation of being unbeatable and thus being called The Immortal Dragon. Do not judge him, however, as he has turned his life around: Today, he is a loving husband who takes care of his home, or "turf" as he calls it, and his hardworking wife, Miku.

I discovered this in anime adaption on Netflix and got hooked on this series just by reading what is was about. I mean, an ex-Yakuza turning into the best househusband ever? Like, really? AMAZING! I was so thrilled to watch it and had high expectations... and that is where the bad notes come in, unfortunately.

The story is a very original and funny idea, but that is exactly why I had high hopes for it; such originality needs to be met up with the right ingredients, and it wasn't really doing it for me. I could not stand the OP and ED, there were barely any animation going on, the story was pretty vague and no real character development (except, ofcourse, the fact that Tatsu turned away from the Yakuza). I honestly had a hard time watching and finishing it... I truly did... But despite all of this, if you have nothing better to watch or/and are feeling bored, I'd say check this one out anyway. If you are a Slice of Life fan, you are most likely to enjoy it even more. More than I did atleast.

Overall rating of "The Way of the Househusband!": 3/10!

80's J-Pop: Miki Matsubara

Album cover for Miki Matsubara's "Stay With Me". Miki Matsubara , or Suzie Matsubara [as she also went by], was a composer, lyricist and singer from Japan. She was known for her 80's J-Pop love songs, but really became famous after her debut single, " Stay With Me ", was released in November 1979. I'm sure many of you have heard this song, and I'm a fan of this talented woman myself, thus I decided to write about her. Early Life Miki Matsubara was born 28th of November 1959 in Osaka ( Kishiwada ), Japan. She grew up with a father, mother and younger sister in Hiraoka Town . Miki quickly became familiar with jazz music, as her mother was a jazz singer. She started playing piano at an outstandingly young age of 3 and simply embraced music in general, not only jazz but also rock. She went to ordinary schools her whole childhood and was praised as being a great and hardworking student who would enroll into university, but Miki had already dreams of beco...

Bongcheon Dong Ghost

Bongcheon-Dong Ghost is a short, South Korean horror webtoon (a type of digital comic) created by Horang August 23rd 2011. In July 2011, artist Horang published the short webtoon " Ok-su Station Ghost " on Naver Webtoon (a webtoon portal). This webtoon included 3D-like effects, including in a scene in which a ghost´s hand appears to jump out of the screen as if to grab the viewer. Horang followed this webcomic up with "Bongcheon-Dong Ghost" later that month. An English fan translation and video dub were created in August, as the webcomic quickly went viral internationally. Some people also recorded themselves reading the story and putting it up on YouTube for people to see their reactions. If you are too scared to read the story on your own, I recommend searching up PewDiePie's video of reading Bongcheon Dong Ghost. SPOILER. Set in Bongcheon-dong, Seoul, the webcomic shows a student walking home from school late at night meeting a female ghost who wa...
