Did you know that in Japan, there exists many different types of cafés? Sure, a café is common anywhere, but Japan’s cafés are a bit... unique, to say the least. There are everything from Mom cafés to Pokémon cafés to Gothic cafés! Much of the word "café". Anyhow, that is what I'll be talking and explaining today; a few types of Japanese cafés! Pet cafés: Yes, have a cup of tea with different animals. There are cafés with cats, dogs, rabbits, owls and even reptiles. If you're an animal lover, you have to visit one of these places when visiting Japan, where you'll be surrounded by adorable little creatures who you can pet and play around with! Maid and Butler cafés: These are like cosplay restaurants. Be served by a beautiful waitress dressed like a maid or a handsome butler, waiting for your call and to serve their master. You can feel almost like a princess/prince when visiting one of the other. Why not try it out for a royal experience? Manga caf...

He is heartlessly ostracized all throughout elementary and middle school, while teachers turn a blind eye. Now in his third year of high school, Shouya is still plagued by his wrongdoings as a young boy. Sincerely regretting his past actions, he sets out on a journey of redemption: to meet Shouko once more and make amends. Types of "Dere" in Anime/Manga (Part 2)

Here is Part 2 of Types of Dere! 1. Dandere This is the quiet, shy type of character. Dandere. They are tremendously shy and usually stay by themselves, always in the shadow instead of the light. But that changes when it comes to the person they like or love. - Examples of Danderes; Yukika Amami ("Ore Monogatari!!"), Hinata Hyuuga ("Naruto/Naruto Shippuuden"), Nagisa Furukawa ("Clannad"). 2. Yandere I'd say Yandere is also just as known as Tsundere. A Yandere is a person that on the outside has a normal, sweet, kind personality but on the inside lies a psychotic killer that get completely mad when they get a crush or fall in love. They would do anything for this crush and kill anyone who gets close, to make sure nobody gets in the middle & try to disturb and take away their love. - Examples on Yanderes; Yuno Gasai ("Mirai Nikki"), Minatsuki Takami ("Deadman Wonderland"), Kotonoha Katsura ("School Days")...

Light Yagami & L

I have decided to start a new category on the blog called " Character of the Week ", a blog post that will come up every week (if I can keep up and don't forget to...) about one or two anime/manga characters, their information and backgrounds, plus maybe my opinions about certain things. I think it is a good idea, not only for me to discover characters, but for you readers to know more and what I feel. For the first two Characters of the Week, it is Light Yagami and L from the famous Death Note ! Now, the thing about Death Note is how good it generally is written. Good plot, good twists, good characters. I will talk about how they were in the Anime because I have not read the manga. The main characters, Light Yagami and L, are both very mysterious people. They are the opposite yet the same. Yagami Light is a 17-18 year old teenager, admired by all because of his genius, who discovers the worst (or best, depending on how you look at it) murder weapon in histo...

J-Pop: Girl Groups and Artists!

Time to talk about J-Pop! J-Pop, that stands for Japanese Pop , is a modern Japanese music genre that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s. Some Japanese pop artists are extremely popular in Japan, and some have fanbases in other countries - especially in Asia, but also in Western countries (they influence not only music, but other things like food and fashion as well). I will be giving 3 examples of the most famous J-pop girl groups and artists! Perfume: Perfume consists of three beautiful girls named Ayano Omoto ("Nocchi"), Yuka Kashino ("Kashiyuka") and Ayaka Nishikawi ("A-chan"). Fun fact; because all members had the Japanese character for fragrance in their names ( 香 ), they named the group Perfume. They were formed in year 2000, releasing their first local single "Omajinai Perori" in 2002, their nationwide single "Sweet Donuts" in 2003 and their major debut single "Linear Motor Girl" in 200...

4 Apps for Learning Japanese

So, you want to learn Japanese. Japanese is a beautiful but complex language, so many people seek to master it for various reasons. I studied Japanese for around a year, so I'd like to recommend, for aaaall those trying to learn this challenging language, 4 useful and smart apps that I used for learning Japanese! I will post more tips and tricks for learning Japanese, so there's more posts to come!   1. Hiragana and Katakana This is a free app with many different functions to learn Hiragana & Katakana, two of the three writing systems in Japan, from Study Cards to Lessons to Quizzes (that you can customize). It is a very simple yet useful app if you don't want to spend money learning.     2. Midori This app costs money, but I think it is worth it since you get a whole and pretty detailed Japanese dictionary. But it also has other things like translation, lists & bookmarks and more. Another very efficient feature is that, if you don't know the cha...

Blood Type Personality in Korea

If you have ever visited or stayed in Korea, you have probably noticed that a lot of people ask "what is your blood type?". This question is one of the most common questions that Koreans ask, apart from "how old are you?". In Korea, it is perfectly fine to ask about a person's blood type, especially if you want to get to know someone very well instantly, in particular, on a blind date. The reason is that Koreans believe that each blood type has its own distinct personality and it is the quickest way to determine a person's temperament and even compability with others. So, who developed this concept? The blood type theory was developed by a Japanese man named Masahiko Nomi . He bagan his first career as a journalist and his first book " Understanding Affinity by Blood Type " became a bestseller in the 1970s. The idea then spread outward and it is popular in some Asian countries such as South Korea and Taiwan. Maybe you are won...

A Whisker Away

A Whisker Away is a cute and innocent movie that is basically about everybody's three favourite subjects: Love, magic and cats (lots of cats) !   A Whisker Away, or Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu (which means "Wanting to Cry, I Pretend to Be a Cat"), is a Japanese animated movie that was released globally and digitally on Netflix June 18th 2020 and produced by Studio Colorido , Toho Animation and Twin Engine .  The story follows the main protagonist Miyo "Muge" Sasaki, an unhappy middle school girl living in a city called Tokoname (Tokoname is a city in real life too, existing in Japan) that is head over heels in love with her classmate Kento Hinode (Fun fact: the voice actor for Kento is also the voice actor for Ken Kaneki from the world-famous Tokyo Ghoul !). Kento does not reciprocate Miyo's feelings though, so the thought of unrequited love yet still feeling the need to have him in her life, drives Miyo to make a deal with a not-so-fri...

Types of "Dere" in Anime/Manga (Part 1)

When watching an anime or reading a manga, we almost always come across certain characters with certain personalities. These personalities are called "Dere"; it is often what really makes them an individual, interesting and stand out. There are several types of "dere"-characters, and I decided to write about the most popular Dere-types to make each one clear. Hopefully you'll learn something new! (I'll split this blog post into two parts so that this doesn't become too long.) 1. Tsundere The Tsundere is probably the most known type. A Tsundere is a cold and angry person that usually reacts and behaves violently against others. Tsunderes usually try to hide their feelings, but open up eventually and shows a friendlier personality, especially when they like someone romantically. Examples on Tsunderes; Tohsaka Rin ("Fate/Stay Night"), Kaname Chidori ("Full Metal Panic"), Aisaka Taiga ("Toradora!").  2. Hime/Oujider...

Top 5 Foods That Makes You Live Longer

Human beings have always tried to find ways to live longer. Many have succeeded, especially Asian people, coming to or close to the age of 100. But what is the secret behind such age? Many rumours behind these Top 5 foods that I will show here. Why not try them out more and see how it affects your life? Are the theories right or wrong? 1) Red Wine . People have long said red wine makes you live longer (usually while excusing themselves for drinking too much red wine). Not that it's going to change our copious red wine consumption, but the supposed fountain of youth may be no such thing. 2) Garlic . The potential effects of garlic on longevity are basically impossible to prove in humans. But given the beneficial effects on important risk factors like blood pressure, it makes sense that garlic could help you live longer. 3) Green Tea . Green tea may help you live longer, yes. Ofcourse, we all have to die eventually, but given that green tea drinkers are at a lowe...

Tomino's Hell

I am a huge fan of poems, whether the sentences are easy or difficult to decipher. One poem I would like to share today is a Japanese, short and old one called "Tomino's Hell" . Why I wanted to talk about this piece is because it has an interesting story behind it and I'm sure people recognize this picture, as it became sort of a Creepypasta. The work is basically about a boy that ports to Hell. Why Tomino's Hell became popular is because of its legend and curse that folk says lies upon it. No one knows how the reputations started, though one thing is clear and that is that everything that is said about the poem is fully false, ofcourse. But there are still people who believe in it; there's always a warning before reading the actual text. The warnings are things like "If you read this out loud for yourself, be prepared for horrific consequences", "You and your family can become sick or die" and such.   In any case: Tomino...

Welcome to my new blog!

Hello and welcome to my new blog!   My name is Emilia Sayaka, I'm a young adult who has always been a bit different and odd from everybody else, but I love being weird. Weird means unique, doesn't it? I am actually quite experienced with blogs as I've had many ones before, so I decided to start anew to have something to do, to share my everything and to express myself. Anyways, on my blog, you can expect anything and everything, really (but mostly Asia-related things like anime, traditions, lifestyle, reviews, etc).
